Dolphin Stadium for Miami Hurricanes

Written on November 11, 2007 – 1:24 pm | by JC |

The new Dolphin Stadium will be fresh and more technically advanced for the Miami Hurricanes to play in this next season and that has a lot of folks down. The reason being that the Miami Hurricanes have been at the Orange bowl stadium what seams like forever. Its been about 70 years of playing and about 500 games at the Orange Bowl, and now the move will be made to Dolphin Stadium.

People really have a lot of pride in a plave like the orange bowl than the new Dolphin Stadium because people like what they know. Who wants to not come to a stadium you remember as a kid going to with your Dad and have always gone too?

When the gates opened, which was about an hour and a half before the opening kickoff, several thousand fans made a dash to get to the west end zone seating area which is a traditionally rowdy and strong crowd to site with during games. They keep it alive over there. The fact that everyone will be going to the new Dolphin Stadium next season still made many sad though. Some people carried signs that said we will miss you Orange Boowl and others even had flashbulbs which kept popping a lot. Other people wore mainly orange, and some even brought oranges with them.

It was the Universities choice to make this move, even with the City of Miami not wanting them too. The city offered them about 206 million dollars to stay and renovate rather than moving to Dolphin Stadium. The “Rock” as people know him in wrestling said “Tonight is about the spirit of being a Hurricane and what that means”.

I am sure people will miss the Orange Bowl, but people move on and they will adjust to the new Dolphin Stadium. The College estimates that by moving this should bring in an extra 5 million in revenue per year which is a nice chunk of change. So most feel that the College knows best for the team and they are following along for the ride to the new Dolphin Stadium.
