Oldest College Football Rivalry

The oldest college football rivalry around is Kansas and Missouri. The reason this is the oldest college football rivalry is because the games between these two teams started on the football field back 1891. This is by far the oldest college football rivalry around. Since 1891 up till today Kansas and Missouri have played a total of 115 times to date. The rivalry has always been extremely fierce. The oldest college football rivalry continues, and today they play their hearts out in a big game that many will not forget.

Todays game will be huge though with 80,000 crazy fans cheering wildly at the oldest college football rivalry in history between the Jayhawks and the Tigers. The differnece this year compared to other years is the fact that both teams are ranked very high this year. The Jayhawks are ranked number 2 and the Tigers are right behind them ranked at number 3. This means the oldest college football rivalry offers some serious bragging rights this year. This game is just amazing and will go on to be talked about for a really long time.

Even former coach Fambrough who is 85 years old had something to say about the oldest college rivalry and this is what he said. “I promise you one thing, it’s not any damn showdown,”The people who call it a showdown are people who have never played in the Missouri-Kansas football game, because it is total war. Their people get up high for it and we get up high for it”.

The oldest college football rivalry between these two teams has gotten so heated up that even the t-shirts that the students are wearing have gotten pretty blatent. A shirt with words like “Muck Fizzou” was a popular one, and then new shirts have been popping up all over the internet that have some interesting conotations. Likening the oldest college football rivalry like a fight, like a battle, and it has proven to be just that.
