Dick Nolan 49ers Coach Passes
Both John York and Denise, who are owners of the 49ers team had their sentiments, saying, “The San Francisco 49ers organization is mourning the loss of one of our legends with the passing of Dick Nolan. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Nolan family and all those that loved and supported him, ” said Denise and John York, co-owners of the 49ers.
Just to give you a little history of Dick Nolan. He is a native of the city of Pittsburgh. On a sports level he was a proud teammate of the 1953 Maryland’s NCAA- champion football team. In 1999 career NFL games with the Giants, Cardinals, and Cowboys, the defensive back pulled in 99 interceptions.
In 1962 he retired from the Cowboys and soon thereafter joined the coaching team. He was a defensive assistant under a former player that he was familiar with, Tom landry and remained there for a good while.
In 1968 Dick Nolan received his own job as a head coach of the 49ers. He then went on to do some special thing for them. He led them to 3 division titles and went on to make coach of the year award in 1970. He will be missed by many.
