Cy Young Award 2007 C.C. Sabathia

Written on November 13, 2007 – 4:20 pm | by JC |

C.C. Sabathia won the Cy Young award on Tuesday for the American League. This is the first time a Clevland pitcher has won the Cy Young Award in over 35 years, so this is big stuff for a guy like C.C. Sabathia let alone all the Clevland indians fans Who have wanted this more than anything for C.C. Sabathia.

C.C. Sabathia received about 19 out of 28 votes for the Cy Young Award. The baseball writers association of America gave him the award with 119 points which pushed him over the top to receive the Cy Young Award.

So the question is, who else had a decent shot at getting the Cy Young Award? There were other contenders besides C.C. Sabathia and here are the few that followed behind. The boston RedSox Josh Beckett for one who received 86 points with eight first place votes for the Cy Young Award.

There was a third runner up which didnt receive the Cy Young award but came close to C.C. Sabathia as well and his name is John Lackey of the Los Angeles Angels as you all know.

This offer for the Cy Young Award is a much deserved thing for C.C. Sabathia as he made some huge numbers in the last few seasons. Keep in mind that C.C. Sabathia has become the only big league game pitcher that has been able to win 20 games since the 2005 season, which is pretty impressive in itself.

Even though Lackey was he big leader with ERA at 3.01 and C.C. Sabathia came in at 3.27 ERA in 200 2-3 inning he is still given this Cy Young Award for his overall accomplishments. Not just one number on paper that people can see. I think people can come to appreciate that the Cy Young Award is special and you have to have done some incredible things like C.C. Sabathia did to get it.
