Yorvit Torrealba Mets Catcher

Written on November 16, 2007 – 12:47 am | by JC |

From the looks of it Yorvit Torrealba will be the new Mets catcher if the deal between Yorvit Torrealba and the Mets go through. He would be replacing a cather already for the Mets who is Paul Lo Duca who would have to find a job somewhere else. The backup catcher would still remain the same however as Castro passed his physical Thursday he agreed to get paid 4.6 million dollars which is not to shabby for a couple years.

So if your a Mets fan your probably wanting to know what Yorvit Torrealba bats and what his stats are ok well here is a basic rundown. Yorvit Torrealba is 29 years old and he was able to bat a .255 with eight home runs as well as racking up a reasonable 47 RBIs in the 113 games that Yorvit Torrealba has played for the Rockies this baseball season.

Sounds like a pretty decent deal for the New York Mets. And if they can pick him up it should add a nice touch to what they have alreay. Especially in assisting the Pitchers to get a better ERA. The confirmation is not a done deal between the Mets and Yorvit Torrealba yet though. We will have to wait for that.

Where does this leave the previous backup catcher for the Mets? Castro has filed for free agency and you don’t blame the guy. look at his personal stats with the Mets. and thats because he had an injury that caused him to have a short season. He hit .285 and had a total of 11 home runs as well as 31 RBIs for the 144 at-bats on the season.

Yorvit Torrealba looks like hes getting to be a more productive player and is improving, so this may vry well be a great investment for the Mets if they stick with him and try him out for a few seasons. if he works well with the pitchers then yorvit Torrealba may be a new permanent for the Mets team.
