2008 womens soccer team coach futbol olympics Pia Sundhage SoccerPia Sundhage was announced as the new 2008 Olympics soccer coach. Pia Sundhage was hired on Tuesday to lead the Women for the 2008 Soccer Olympics. This will not be a drrastic change or shock to Pia Sundhage as she was an assistant for China during this year’s World Cup. Which means she is very familiar with some US players.
Pia Sundhage also coached in WUSA during the three years that the league was around and existed. So she has some ins and outs of the way many of the players operate which will give her an edge over any other foreign soccer coach that would have joined to coach the USA womens soccer team in the Olympics. She is a replacement for Greg Ryan who only came in third from the last World Cup.
Pia Sundhage is 47 years old but maintains some real talent with the 45-1-9, solo loss that resulted in the Americans being unable to win with Greg Ryan. Everyone is very excited and feels that Pia Sundhage has a lot to bring to the table.
Just to list some of the accomplishments of Pia Sunhage, She was a coach to the U.S. captain Kristine Lilly for the team of Boston in 2003. For this Pia Sundhage earned WUSA coach of the year honors after she leadn the Boston Breakers to their first ever playoff, Which is pretty awesome considering all the feats that she had to overcome to get them there. As you can see Pia Sundhage looks to be an amzing coach for the for the womens Olympic soccer team.
Everyone will be curious to see how she handles things and where she leaves off from her last job. Will she accomplish what all are hoping for? We will all have to see if Pia Sundhage will take control.
