The focus of this article will be on learning Aikido Techniques. One of the most interesting contributions to culture and diversity is in the Asian World. Many Asian stars that have been born into the movie industry have had backgrounds with Martial Arts. Those like Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan have made their mark thrugh amazing agility and comical fight scenes.

When it comes to hand to hand combat you might first bring to mind the Chinese, but the Japanese are also great contributors of agility and athleticism when it comes to full contact sports. Down to this Day the Japanese still hold much sway in the promotion of tournaments and the promotion of such sport events around the world.

One that is known well is that of Aikido. This word comes from three Japanese words that bring together the meaning of the one word. Ai which means joining, Ki which means spirit and Do which means way.

When learning Aikido one is not taught violence, but to bring oneself in harmony with the opponent. Harmony as well as finese are key factors in the art of Aikido. The moments express that of one who is at peace. Aikido is about a positive frame of mind and spirit.

the following are a few of Aikido techniques. Ikkyo which is the first technique. The ability of Ikkyo allows you to control an opponent by using the one hand to hold the opponents elbow and the other near the wrist. This will allow you to pin your opponent down on the ground. The second technique of Aikido is Nikyo which when used allows for a wristlock so that you may twist the wrist and cause pressure to the nerves of your opponent.

A third Aikido technique is known as Sankyo which brings an spiraling tension upward through an elbow, an arm or a shoulder. The art of Aikido contains many techniques to be learned but the first three are stepping stones to others.

It is very important as you grow in your knowledge of Aikido to remember that physical strength can be valuable, but more importantly the mental faculties should grow in strength as well. The art of Aikido is a technique which must be given much time and perseverance to master. Discipline of your mind will allow you to grow in this capacity to truly learn the way of Aikido.
